DAY TO NIGHT

"There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want." -Bill Waterson

Maybe he was referring to the time I spend in my closet looking for something to wear. On weekends especially I find it difficult to find time to get dressed for the day when in a couple of hours I will be looking for an entirely different outfit come night. Sure you can probably just pull off this outfit in a bar or something but personally I think this attire is too day time for a night out. I figured I would show you how to take basic pieces and easily transition the entire look from day to night. I started off with this basic button down top and plain skirt, I added the neon belt to cinch in the waste and give a more flattering look; the neutral shoes just add to the summery feel and the bag is just one of my old time favorites.

For night time I took the same shirt and skirt as well as the bag and just switched up the shoe to a black sandal, I removed the belt and added my moto jacket with some red lipstick to vamp it up and voila! I also touched up on my curls to give my hair more volume. And just like that a complete 360°.

Too Much Skin?

Crop Top: Vintage  (Similar)/ Denim Shorts: Forever 21 / Shoes: Aldo (Old) / Purse: Louis Vuitton Alma /
Sunglasses: Forever 21 (Similar)

The hotter the better... the weather that is. With NYC hitting its highs I have been resorting to crop tops and short shorts! I personally never really like to show too much skin all at once but I stepped out of my comfort zone a little bit and wore a skimpier outfit than I'm used to. I definitely wasn't comfortable showing my complete stomach especially since I would like it to be a bit more toned and I would have preferred a more high wasted short but I'm glad I took a bit of a risk. I'm young and probably won't be any more comfortable wearing this as I get older. Sometimes you just have to let go and take a risk when it comes to fashion or all matters of life.

What outfit have you worn that made you feel uneasy?

REAL OR STEAL: SWIMWEAR

REAL|STEAL

T By Alexander Wang clothing / Melissa Odabash one piece swimsuit / Topshop bikini swimwear / Lisa Marie Fernandez bikini swimwear / Milly bikini swimwear / H M bikini swimwear, $22 / River Island bikini swimwear, $20 / H M bikini, $13 / River Island bikini swimwear, $27 / H M bikini swimwear, $12 / H M swim top, $22

Now that beaches are open we can finally slip into a bikini and enjoy some sun! I have been shopping lately for some swimwear and thought it might be a good idea to show you some options that I am coveting and how you can also get similar swimsuits for a steal. I honestly don't like to spend much on swimsuits as I like to have more variety.

1. Lisa Marie Fernandez neoprene bikini: This swimsuit is gorgeous but runs about $325 and I think that this H&M option is a bit more flattering yet has a similar style. I prefer straps on my bikini due to having a broader back. The detailing on the H&M one gives the swimsuit the same feel as the neoprene one.
2. Melissa Obadash ruched swimsuit is so classic, it actually has a detachable halter stap and has the ability to adjust the ruches to cover your hips - very Marilyn Monroe. The price of this swimsuit is $290, although it is stunning I did find a similar option that can give you the same look at Topshop for $72.
3. Alexander Wang's striped bathing suit is so cute! The stripes start and end at the most flattering areas making your waist appear slimmer. I didn't find an exact dupe for this one but I think this H&M swimsuit is perfect. The stripes go in different directions on the bra but continue to go horizontally on the bottom and because this is a 2 piece it allows you to show off your waist.
4. Triangl has made a huge splash in this years swimwear collections and have gorgeous options at a reasonable price around $89 however I was able to find an even cheaper alternative that is almost identical. This River Island option has a bit of a lighter mint color but the same structure and is only $47.

I hope I helped any of you that are looking for the perfect swimsuit but don't want to break the bank.

BOYFRIEND SHORTS?

Shorts: Forever 21 Men / Shirt: Brandy Melville / Purse: Furla (Embossed version) / Shoes: Zara / Sunglasses: Tom Ford / Lipstick: Mac in Up The Amp

Lately I've been looking for some cute shorts but haven't been able to find the right fit. I found these in the mens section at Forever 21 and fell in love!!! These were exactly what I was searching for, just the right fit and design. Sometimes you have to borrow from a entirely different department, in this case the mens department. I for one am obsessed with boyfriend jeans, they are way too comfortable and you can easily put together an outfit with them so why not try a boyfriend short?!

What have you borrowed from the mens section?

HOME DECOR: LIVING ROOM

I've been meaning to post this for quite some time but somehow I never got to it. I posted an update on my home a few months back and thought I would make it into a series of some sort. I snapped some photos of my living room when I had completed it for the most part. Of course every room in your home is never really complete, you always want to add to it or change up a few things each season but right now I'm pretty satisfied with it. I do want to add a painting or statement piece for behind the couch and also change the hideous lamp that my boyfriend refuses to get rid of but I figured you guys can come along with me and see my apartment transform.

For those of you uninterested in home decor, there will be a new outfit post up on wednesday. I'm trying to create a schedule for this blog (wish me luck). Anyway lets get to it...

I never got to take a before picture of the living room but let me just paint a quick picture for you -- It had beige walls, brown carpet, and ugly furniture to match. I definitely knew the flooring and paint color had to go so we painted it this gorgeous gray and put down wood floors. This made a huge difference in the space, it immediately felt more clean and open. I then started shopping for furniture. I knew I wanted a cowhide rug so I went on the hunt! They can be really expensive.. even the ones at Ikea run you about $200 which is pricey if you are buying all your furniture from scratch. So I went on craigslist and found a couple selling theirs for $100, I made an offer of $80 and they accepted; I was ecstatic. After that everything just fell into place. The couch was found at Bob's discount furniture, I had actually wanted this one in charcoal gray but they said it would take up to 20 weeks for me to receive it. That was too long of a wait so I settled on this beige color, I love it but I am so careful with it because its so light.

One piece of advice when moving into your first apartment is to always look for pieces of furniture you want on places like craigslist, ebay and yard sales. You can definitely find some gems for a great price. Another thing to definitely consider is offers from family members, my boyfriends sister had this table set sitting in her basement and offered it to us. It's the perfect size and we didn't have to spend a dime. As for the coffee table I am still on the hunt for a leather trunk but this will have to suffice. I will link to where you can find all these pieces below.

STRIPES

Dress: H&M (Current find) / Clutch: Forever 21 (Similar) / Shoes: Sole Society (old - other options here or here / Sunglasses: Prada

As discussed in my previous post I've had many social events in my calendar this weekend and needless to say I had some shopping to do. I wasn't looking for anything in particular when I found this dress in H&M. I saw it and immediately knew it was mine! There is something about black and white with pops of color that stands out to me, whether it be for clothing or even home decor. I just love it, probably because you can always throw in other items to make the whole look work.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, happy hump day!

A FAMILY AFFAIR

Dress: Mystique / Shoes: Bakers / Clutch: Zara (similar) / Necklace: Forever 21

Don't I always start off a new post with how hectic my life has been, well this weekend was not at all different. If you follow me on twitter or instagram then you may have seen what I was up to. I attended two weddings and a christening. One of those weddings I took part of was my mothers! It was so exciting and I am unbelievably happy for her. My mother deserves all the happiness in the world.

I was one of the bridesmaids, she gave my sisters and I the option of choosing our own dress!! When does that ever happen? We had the color options she wanted and basically everything else was up to us. This wedding was planned within such a short period of time that I literally found this dress three days before the wedding! I looked everywhere from Nordstrom to Bloomingdales and even Topshop, I found nothing so I went to Soho and looked around any shop I could go into and ended up finding this one at the least likely store I would ever think of. I think it blended so well with my sisters dresses -- it was perfect. I already had the necklace and shoes sitting in my closet and threw on the clutch for an added print.

I would like to dedicate this post to my mom, I love you unconditionally and wish you and your new husband the best on your new journey xx and happy mothers day of course!

And I'll leave you all with a cute photo of my family and I...

CHERRY BLOSSOMS X IMATS OOTD

Cropped Jacket: H&M / Top: Forever 21 / Pants: Forever 21 (Recent purchase but similar here) / Shoes: H&M / Sunglasses: Tom Ford / Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim Medium Pashli / Necklace: House of Harlow

On Sunday I went to IMATS, I had an amazing time! I went a little overboard with the shopping - haul coming soon and I also got to see some crazy makeup artistry and also some fellow youtubers. All in all it was a great experience and I definitely would go again.

I ended up going with these wide legged cherry blossom pants and all black for the rest of the outfit. I wanted the pants to speak for themselves. This outfit would have went well with all white accessories but I worked with what I had and loved the end result especially with a pop of coral on my lips.

More photos and a video on IMATS to come...

BLACK & WHITE

Moto Jacket: NastyGal / Sheer Tank: Forever 21 / Pants: H&M (Old - Similar here or here) / Shoes: Zara / Sunglasses: Zara (Similar) / Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim Medium Satchel

Sheeesh! We experienced such gorgeous weather this weekend. Please keep it coming! I definitely took advantage and spent all weekend outside. On Saturday I went to Smorgasburg in Williamsburg, they had over 100 food vendors selling all different types of food and desserts and they had a bar. I went with my brother and sister and we had a great time; if you want to see more photos of what I did this weekend please check out my instagram: @closetfullofdaisies --

I honestly just wanted to wear an outfit that had very light fabrics but nothing colorful. So I went for my staple color scheme of course black and white. I've had these pants for years and I love them so much, I decided to pair them with a basic sheer cropped tank and my new Zara heels. As per usual I had on my trusty motorcycle jacket but I was so hot I ended up taking my jacket off for most of the day. These Zara sunglasses just added a warmer color to the outfit.

Later this week I will be posting what I wore for IMATS and what I hauled. Stay tuned!

Until next time xx,
Daisy
